Next Oregon attorney general likely to be a Democrat
It’s all but certain that John Kroger or Greg Macpherson will be Oregon’s next attorney general.
Oregon Democrats will choose between Macpherson, a state legislator and corporate lawyer, and Kroger, a law professor and former prosecutor in the May primary. With no Republican candidate, the winner likely will appear on the November ballot with token opposition, if any.
Macpherson, 57, and Kroger, 41, are not offering radically different plans for the office and its $190-million-a-year budget. Under either candidate, the Department of Justice will continue to operate as the state’s law firm.
