A College Dropout do the impossible and it was a Perpetuum Mobile?

Thane Heins is nervous and full of hope. It is January 24, a Thursday afternoon, and four days, the native of Ottawa field trip to Boston, where there is no evidence that the invention seems - even if it does not mean they dare — to be used as a Perpetuum Mobile.

The audience, estimated Massachusetts Institute of Technology Professor Marc Zahn, Heins deflate “iconoclastic impetus debt of 20 years broke fear that his marriage and he lost custody of her two small girls.

Dent is a leading expert in electronic systems and EMI. In a rare serious step for each university, he agreed to give Heins’ creation of a hardened look, rather than welcome the final dismissal.

It is a decisive moment. The invention has been at least a modest improvement of the efficiency of induction motors, which all cars electric ceiling fans. In the best case, it means one lane of the value of mysterious forces of electromagnetic fields generate more work for less effort, the creation of electricity from nothing apparently.

Such an invention would be an incredible challenge, the laws of physics, a no-no in the rigid world of the seriousness of science. Make sure you have a battery in a system all-electric car, can still be loaded almost exclusively by braking and acceleration, which Heins, or as “acceleration regenerative.”

No attack from the network. No assumption of gasoline. No charges in-flight refuelling. No way, say the skeptics.

“It seems too good to be true,” says Heins, a company is doing during the year 2005 called Inc difference potential for development and commercialization of his invention. “We sometimes get released fairly quickly.”

For this reason, the inventor of 46 years, has learned to walk on thin ice when it is with scientists and engineers, you have to win to be taken seriously. Credibility, after all, can not be invented. It must be earned. “I have to humiliate. If you say the wrong thing at the wrong time, you can lose.”

The property in question is a new type of generator called Perepiteia (read related story “Holy shit, it’s really frightening”), in the Greek theatre is an action which has the opposite effect of what its intention to do so. Heins torque until the definition in the sense of “a sudden reversal of fortune, is a boon for humanity.”

Further down, Heins has big hopes. But he also recognizes that the mere use of such controversial terms - “Perpetuum Mobile” - usually a person brands such as Batty. During 2006, an Irish company named Steorn an ad in “The Economist” Calling all scientists worldwide, based magnetic “free energy” technology.

Steorn has sparked skepticism and intense grief, that fraud or a hoax. Seventeen months later, the company has failed, despite global attention, to prove everything under control. Well trained people, Leonardo da Vinci at Harvard qualified engineer Bruce De Palma (brother of director Brian De Palma), have the same rights as Perpetuum Mobile jumped on the Main Stream scientific community.

Heins was a battle even greater rise. It is not an engineer. It is not compatible with a diploma degree in physics. He himself has never ended its program in electronic Heritage College in Gatineau, Quebec. “I have mild dyslexia and are not good at math, I do not know very well at school,” he said.

What he has a diploma chef, and time spent as head of the Canadian Museum of Civilization, before launching his own restaurant in Renfrew the old city Tea Room. It also has political ambitions. In 1999, he failed as a candidate for the Green Party Ontario, decided a year later, as an independent centre in the choice of confederation.

Today, Heins focuses on his invention shows that someone is willing to see him in the hope that someone like him is wiser to their credibility. His longtime friend, Kim Cunningham, head of communications and government relations in the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI) is the part-time work with potential difference in helping the message.

Together, they have shown how Perepiteia a number of laboratories and universities across North America, including the University of Virginia, Michigan State University, University of Toronto and Queen’s University.

“It is usually always the same answer,” says Heins. “It’s a bit like a Gerangel on the part of the observer to what they see, in a context of the nature of what they know. They can not explain it. They do not know what it is. ”

It would be happy if someone has done, even if the news was bad. His wife had kicked. It does not earn an income. It can not pay the child. The security would be welcome. “I tried to stop many times, and I, if I could just a normal type, I would have a normal life … but I had this idea, and I think it works. ”

Others want to believe - or at least help. Cunningham, whose brother is general manager of Angus Glen Golf Club, established in Heins Club president, Kevin Thistle. For two years, Thistle acted as angels investors, start-up capital required to secure the difference potential patents and research.

Cunningham’s boss, President Jeffrey Dale OCRI, helped open doors at the University of Ottawa and its launches dean of engineering. This led to last fall and Heins with Riadh Habash, a professor at the University’s School of Information Technology and Engineering.

“Dr. Habash has essentially rolled out the red carpet,” says Heins and said he now has access to a laboratory of the university and all equipment needed to test and simulate its generator.

In an interview with the Toronto Star, Habash has been chosen, but in fact what has so far seen. “It speeds up, but when it comes to make a statement, there is no support for the theory. That is why we counsel MIT. But at the moment, we can not support any indication.

At the same time, Heins was written in a letter campaign for money for its mission. It says former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, Virgin Group founder and billionaire Richard Branson and John Doerr in venture capital Kraftwerk Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He also tried to contact entrepreneurs Elon Musk, chairman of the electric car Emporkömmling Tesla Motors, and loading of information “draft philanthropic arm of Google.
